Where to stay in Pattaya with family?

The best areas to stay in Pattaya with family are Jomtien, Naklua and Pratamnak Hill. Avoid areas such as Walking Street and Soi Buakhao. Pattaya is definitely a family-friendly destination and you will only notice the adult entertainment if you’re looking for it. Families from Bangkok regularly visit Pattaya during the weekends and holidays as it’s the closest beach near Bangkok. In this article, we dive deeper into each area and where to stay in Pattaya with family.

Tip: One of the main reasons why Southeast Asia is a popular destination for many, is because the hotels are often relatively cheap, especially compared to Western prices. In Pattaya, that rule applies here as well, and finding a 5-star hotel with proper, family-friendly facilities is not difficult. When you have a hotel with a proper swimming pool, kid-friendly entertainment and excellent international food, your holiday is already great. Also, hotels like these don’t attract the type of single men who come to Pattaya for different reasons. We handpicked kids-friendly hotels in every recommended family-friendly area in Pattaya.

The best areas to stay in Pattaya with family are:

1. Jomtien

Jomtien is one of the two popular destinations in Patt for Bangkokians to escape the chaos of Thailand’s capital. Jomtien is located south of the city centre and far away from its notorious nightlife. In this area, you can find all sorts of hotels that mainly attracts visitors who enjoy spending time on the beach, at beach clubs and enjoying delicious Thai food. Further south towards Na-Jomtien, you can find more luxurious hotels. As Jomtien is located outside the city centre, you won’t find shopping malls and other facilities nearby, but that’s what makes Jomtien so popular. You can enjoy the beach to the fullest and really have that holiday feeling. Pattaya Water Park is also located in Jomtien, which is a great activity to do for those with younger kids.

2. Naklua

Naklua is the second popular destination in Pattaya for Bangkokians to escape the city. As it’s located more central, you have easier access to the city’s facilities. In this area, you can easily find 5-star hotels with facilities that the whole family can appreciate. The downside of Naklua is that the beach is not that great. In general, Pattaya does not have the best beaches, but at least Jomtien’s beach is decent. Therefore, for most visitors, a visit to Koh Larn with the ferry is the alternative and Koh Larn is absolutely recommended for beach-lovers. The good thing about Naklua is the variety of hotels. Some of the largest hotel brands in the world have a hotel there with a great swimming pool and other features.

3. Pratamnak Hill

The last recommended area to stay in Pattaya with family is Pratamnak Hill, the area between Jomtien and central Pattaya. One of the great things about this area is the view, as you have that panoramic view of Pattaya beach. You don’t have direct access to the beach, but visiting Jomtien Beach is a piece of cake due to its location. Compared to Jomtien, you have better access to central Pattaya, but the downside is of course the lack of beach. Find yourself a hotel with a large swimming pool and you will easily forget about a small detail.

Areas to avoid in Pattaya with family:

We cannot stress this enough: there are areas in Pattaya that are not kid-friendly. In and around Walking Street as well as Soi 6 and Soi Buakhao and LK Metro, there are countless Go-Go and beer bars. But these are all located in the central area of Pattaya. If you are not looking for these areas specifically, you won’t come across them.
