What are the best areas to stay in Dubai for the beach?

The best areas to stay in Dubai for the beach are Jumeirah Beach, Jumeirah Palm and Dubai Marina & Jumeirah Beach Residence. These three areas are among the most popular areas in Dubai and all have direct access to the beach. The latter two are also among the most expensive areas in Dubai, with the iconic palm island as the most luxurious. In the next paragraphs, we dive deeper into each recommended beach area and come up with alternatives as well.

The best areas in Dubai for beaches:

.
.

1. Jumeirah

Jumeirah is actually the name of the coastline of Dubai and can be divided into different sections. Basically, Jumeirah starts at La Mer Beach and ends at Jumeira Public Beach, where you can find the most famous hotel in Dubai: the Burj Al Arab. In between, there is a wide variety of hotels for almost every type of traveller in every type of budget class. There are several beaches to be found around the coastline, making it the best area to stay in Dubai for beach life. The further you head towards the southern part of Dubai, towards the palm islands, the further you go away from Dubai’s main attractions, such as the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Frame. The distance between the palm islands and the touristic hotspots is twenty-five kilometres, which is quite a distance. So, if you do want to combine seeing some of the city highlights and enjoying beach life, the best areas within Jumeirah are Jumeirah Beach and La Mer Beach. Those who tend to stay most of the time at the beach and occasionally want to go out for sightseeing can stay anywhere along the coastline.

2. Jumeirah Palm

If your budget allows it, staying at Jumeirah Palm and enjoying the private beach of your resort is the best beach option you have in Dubai. But this comes with a large price tag. For those who didn’t know, Jumeirah Palm is one of the two man-made palm islands. The insane creation of an artificial palm island represents everything modern Dubai stands for and the sky is the limit. Some of the most luxurious hotels in the world are located on one of the sand palm leaves. Those seeking nightlife are in luck because many of these luxury hotels do have a nightclub inside their resort. This is actually very common in Dubai, even in Downtown Dubai, where nightlife takes place inside a hotel. Those travelling with kids should definitely check out the waterpark at Atlantis, although adults will definitely enjoy the waterslides too.

3. Dubai Marina & Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR)

This area, right in front of Jumeirah Palm, is known for its nightlife as well as good access to the beaches. One of the good things about this area is that there is a separate beach that’s only accessible when you’re staying at certain hotels, which makes it quite exclusive. Most beaches in Dubai are public beaches except Jumeirah Palm is known for its private beaches. But Jumeirah Beach Residence has that exclusivity as well. Also, in this area, you can find a ton of water activities to keep your lazy days at the beach more entertaining. In the next paragraphs, we dive deeper into these water activities. In the evening, make sure to visit Dubai Marina Walk, which is home to many good restaurants. Although not as pricy as some of the resorts at Jumeirah Palm, staying at Dubai Marina & Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) is still among the priciest areas Dubai has to offer. In the next paragraph, we’ve come up with a more budget-friendly alternative.

Alternative area: Al Barsha

Al Barsha does not have direct access to the beach, so if that’s the base requirement for your stay in Dubai, then you must pick one of the three areas in the previous paragraphs. But, if you’re willing to travel just a tiny bit, you should stay at Al Barsha. The compromise of not having direct access to the beach does save you quite a few bucks, while you’re still close to two of the recommended beach areas in Dubai. Keep in mind that similar to Dubai Marina & Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) and Jumeirah Palm, the city’s highlights are located twenty-five kilometres away.
