When visiting Sukhothai, trying the famous Sukhothai Noodles should be on your list as this popular dish is difficult to find elsewhere in Thailand. In this article, we explain what makes Sukhothai Noodles different from regular noodles and where to find the best Sukhothai Noodles in Sukhothai.
What are Sukhothai Noodles?
Sukhothai Noodles are bowls of thin rice noodles with sliced, roasted pork. The big difference between regular Thai noodles and Sukhothai Noodles is that Sukhothai Noodles are served with green beans, small pieces of salted turnip and ground peanut. The stock of Sukhothai Noodles is red-coloured thanks to the spices. If you order the dry version, as Sukhothai Noodles come in either a dry or a soup version, the spices are not mixed yet and the colour is completely different. Sukhothai Noodles are slightly sweeter and sourer. The dry version of Sukhothai Noodles has different textures and at some restaurants, the noodles are served with delicious crispy baked pork. You can find Sukhothai Noodles at almost every Thai restaurant in Sukhothai and they are usually 40 THB per bowl.

Where to find the best Sukhothai Noodles in Sukhothai?
1. Ta Puy Sukhothai Noodle.
If you ask Sukhothai citizens where to find the best Sukhothai Noodles, the majority will direct you to Ta Puy, although there are plenty of other popular Sukhothai Noodle restaurants to be found in the city. Ta Puy is located on the road that separates Old Sukhothai with New Sukhothai, two kilometres from the new city centre. This local eatery focusses on a handful of dishes, but the main reason hungry locals come eat there regularly is to devour their heavenly flavoured Sukhothai Noodle Soup. Out of all the noodle soups we tried, Ta Puy is in our opinion the number one when it comes to Sukhothai Noodle Soups. There is a dry version available as well, which really tastes well, however, we believe that we found a better-tasting version of it. More information about this amazing local restaurant, such as the opening times, the location, more recommended dishes and other TopTravelFoods users’ opinions, check out the TopTravelFoods review page of Ta Puy Noodle.

2. Mai Klang Krung
During our visit to Sukhothai, we stumbled upon this lovely, cosy restaurant that serves a few really good noodle dishes and Thai desserts. Among these noodle dishes was the Sukhothai Noodle Dry and only by looking at this colourful dish, we knew we could expect something very exciting. The thin egg noodles, grounded peanut, minced pork, crispy pork, pork skin and fried wonton make sure that this dish does not have a lack of different textures and flavours. For me personally, the dry version of Sukhothai Noodles is a bit more exciting than the soup version of Sukhothai Noodles as you can play around with which part you eat and the ingredients of the dry version keep its crunch. We’ve tried many Sukhothai Noodles and we believe that Mai Klang Krung serves the best dry Sukhothai Noodles in town. 3. Check-In Eatery
Check-In Eatery is one of our favourite restaurants in Sukhothai as the restaurant is spotlessly clean, serves amazing Thai dishes and is reasonably priced. One of the best-sellers at this popular eatery is their Sukhothai Noodles, which is by far the largest bowl of Sukhothai Noodles on this list. What’s so good about these noodles is the flavour, a good balance of sweetness and sourness, as well as the use of good quality ingredients. For example, the sliced pork does not have much fat on it and has a really good taste. Although we do believe that Ta Puy Sukhothai Noodle serves slightly better noodles, Check-In Eatery is a better overall restaurant and has more to offer than noodles. Also, the restaurant is located near the new city centre. More information about this amazing local restaurant, such as the opening times, the location, more recommended dishes and other TopTravelFoods users’ opinions, check out the TopTravelFoods review page of Check-In Eatery.
