In this article, we discuss Pattaya food you should not miss when you are visiting this city. Pattaya is a city with a bit of a bad reputation due to its wild and notorious nightlife. But when it comes to food, Pattaya has so more to offer. In this list, I will share you the best Thai food in Pattaya we tried during the expansion of our food app.

If you are looking for the best restaurants in town, including Thai and non-Thai, please read the article about the
best restaurants in Pattaya. In this article, we discuss the best Thai food in Pattaya and where to find it.

The best Thai food in Pattaya are:

1. Squid Fried in Salty Egg Curry Sauce - Suttangrak Pattaya

Almost every seafood restaurant in Pattaya serves this dish, squid in salty egg curry, which is a dish I haven’t seen anywhere outside Pattaya, to be honest. After trying countless versions of this dish during our time in Pattaya, we came to the conclusion that the best version can be found at Suttangkak. The dish is a mostly sweet and salty dish and is covered in a creamy curry and cost you 220 THB. The most tricky part when it comes to Squid Fried in Salty Egg Curry Sauce is getting the fried squid to a point that the squid is nicely tender and not chewy, which was the exact case at Suttangrak. Suttangrak is located in Najomtien, which is the southern parts of Pattaya. If it’s too far for you, I would still highly recommend you to try this really tasty dish at some other seafood restaurant, such as J Tum Kitchen (which is also listed in this article). More in-depth information about Suttangrak can be found in our complete review of Suttangrak Pattaya. More general information, such as opening times, location, menu, pictures of the restaurant and other TopTravelFoods users’ opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Suttangrak Pattaya.

2. Som Tum Seafood Mix in Tray - Lab Ubon Pattaya Thai Restaurant

Lab Ubon Pattaya Thai Restaurant is my favourite local restaurant in town mainly because of this dish: a tray completely filled with papaya salad and all sorts of small seafood, including raw prawns. This is next-level, highly spiced papaya salad which is originally flavoured with plenty of chillies and pla-ra. Pla-ra is fermented fish and an ingredient that is loved in the Isaan region but for many foreigners a flavour that is way too dominant and exotic. This dish, which costs 300 THB and is easily sharable with a few people, is not for the standard tourist, but for those who can stand extreme flavours as described above. You can, however, order the exact same plate, without pla-ra and with fewer chillies, making it eatable for most us. The second main reason why this restaurant is my favourite local restaurant is because of its Deep-Fried Pork Belly With Fish Sauce (150 THB). Make sure to order that too. More general information, such as opening times, location, menu, pictures of the restaurant and other TopTravelFoods users’ opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Lab Ubon Pattaya Thai Restaurant.

3. Stewed Beef Noodle Soup - Jae Tho Beef Noodles

If you are looking for amazing noodles in Pattaya, one of your best shots are at Jae Tho Beef Noodles. This indoor place has a few street food cart-like vendors that serve one of their own specialities. Among them is Jae Tho Beef Noodles and a bowl of their delicious Stewed Beef Noodle Soup costs you 60 THB. The soup itself is nicely sweet and fragrant and the quality of the beef is excellent. I was also surprised by the cleanness of this place, especially for a place like this. More general information, such as opening times, location, menu, pictures of the restaurant and other TopTravelFoods users’ opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Jae Tho Beef Noodles.

4. Deep-Fried Rock Lobster with Garlic and Pepper - J Tum Kitchen

J Tum Kitchen is a restaurant that from the outside does not even look like a restaurant and in the street where it’s located, you mostly find condos. To our big surprise, we found out that some of the most exciting local dishes we tried were at J Tum Kitchen. Among these dishes was our personal favourite Deep-Fried Rock Lobster with Garlic and Pepper, which costs around 900 THB per kilogram. The lobster is deep-fried, sliced in half then covered in a sweet and peppery dressing with a bit of fried garlic on it. This is not the kind of delicate lobster you eat in fancy restaurants in Paris, but freshly caught lobster stuffed with interesting flavours prepared in Thai-style. As mentioned earlier, at this restaurant, you can also try the squid fried in salty egg curry. Another delicious option is their Grilled Prawns with Tamarind, which costs 1,200 THB per kilogram. More general information, such as opening times, location, menu, pictures of the restaurant and other TopTravelFoods users’ opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of J Tum Kitchen.

5. Crispy Roasted Pork - So Moo Hun Baan Moto

If you are looking for some exciting Pattaya food, head over to Pornprapanimit Road, which is a bit outside the city itself. Next to the street, on every Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 15:30 and 18:30, they sell chunks of crispy roasted pork straight from a pig on a spit. For 100 THB, you get a decent-sized bow of super fresh roasted pork with two different dipping sauces, a spicy and a sweet sauce. For a few extra bucks, you can also order extra crispy pork skin on top of the roasted pork, which is actually the best part of the pork. It’s possible to book the owners of So Moo Hun Baan Moto at your house where they will roast a complete pig for you and your family. More information about this restaurant, including the phone number for bookings, opening times, location, menu, pictures of the restaurant and other TopTravelFoods users’ opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of So Moo Hun Baan Moto.

6. Pineapple Fried Rice - MAYs Pattaya

MAYs Pattaya is a bit of an upscale Thai restaurant that serves authentically flavoured Thai dishes without artificial flavour enhancers. The quality of the dishes is so good and the restaurant gained so much popularity, that nowadays MAYs has several branches spread over Southeast Asia where they serve beautiful looking and great tasting dishes. But when we select a simple dish like the Pineapple Fried Rice (250 THB) as one of the most Pattaya food options, at a place like MAYs Pattaya, you know it’s something special. I personally visited both MAYs Pattaya and MAYs Bangkok and I still think this savoury and balanced pineapple fried rice is the best dish you can order at MAYs. But I do have to say that I couldn’t find any dish that was not satisfying or not tasty. For that reason, I would highly recommend exploring the menu at MAYs on your own. More in-depth information about MAYs Pattaya can be found in our complete review of MAYs Pattaya and Bangkok. More general information about this restaurant, including the phone number for bookings, opening times, location, menu, pictures of the restaurant and other TopTravelFoods users’ opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of MAYs Pattaya.

7. Fried Horse Crab with Lime - Mum Aroi

With two branches in and near Pattaya, Mum Aroi is one of the popular seafood restaurants in Pattaya and each day, hundreds of hungry guests devour on of their delicious seafood creations. Among these dishes, is their signature Fried Horse Crab with Lime, which costs you 380 THB. This non-spicy, mostly sweet seafood dish with horse crab is served with crunchy vegetables and covered in a lime-based curry. The owner told me that this dish even got on national television during a nationwide cooking show. More in-depth information about Mum Aroi can be found in our complete review of Mum Aroi. More general information about this restaurant, including the phone number for bookings, opening times, location, menu, pictures of the restaurant and other TopTravelFoods users’ opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Mum Aroi.

8. Krapao Seafood - Pa Tidd

Pa Tidd is a popular local restaurant with some odd opening times, namely between ten o’clock in the morning and three o’clock in the afternoon. And from the start, the restaurant gets crowded with hungry locals to order their delicious, affordable local Thai food. Among all this deliciousness is their widely popular Krapao Seafood (80 THB). This is a pad kra pao, one of the most popular Thai dishes in general, made with squid and large juicy prawns. The krapao seafood is heavily spiced with plenty of chillies and usually comes without rice. It’s recommended, to order this dish with rice to control the flaming heat of the chillies. More information about this restaurant, including the phone number for bookings, opening times, location, menu, pictures of the restaurant and other TopTravelFoods users’ opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Pa Tidd.

9. Fried Crab with Curry Powder - King Seafood

Located in the middle of Walking Street and also listed in our article about the best restaurants near Walking Street is King Seafood. For years, it serves all sorts of freshly caught seafood, which are displayed at the entrance of the restaurant, for hungry guests. The most exciting dish we tried here was the Fried Crab with Curry Powder, which costs you around a thousand bath, depending on the weight of the crab. The crab is beautifully cooked, served as a whole and covered in this delicious curry. Although a little bit difficult to eat, this fried crab with curry powder is one of the best seafood dishes I ate in Pattaya. More in-depth information about King Seafood can be found in our complete review of King Seafood. More general information, such as opening times, location, menu, pictures of the restaurant and other TopTravelFoods users’ opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of King Seafood.

10. Deep-Fried Sea Bass with Sweet Fish Sauce - The Sky Gallery

Thinking of having great Thai food in Pattaya while enjoying a beautiful panoramic ocean view? The Sky Gallery is one of your best options and is listed number one in our article about the best restaurants with the most stunning view in Pattaya. The menu, as well as the kitchen at The Sky Gallery, is split into two sections: one dedicated to Thai food, the other one dedicated to international food. The signature dish is the Deep-Fried Sea Bass with Sweet Fish Sauce, which costs 485 THB. What makes this dish so special is that the fish - caught by local fishermen and not the larger companies that sail far from the coast and use chemicals to preserve the fish - is first sliced, then deep-fried. The chunks are because of this, boneless and are incredibly crispy. The fish gets served as a whole as Thai love to eat the tail part where the fishbones are so small, they are edible and super crunchy. More in-depth information about The Sky Gallery can be found in our complete review of The Sky Gallery. More general information, such as opening times, location, menu, pictures of the restaurant and other TopTravelFoods users’ opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of The Sky Gallery.

11. Stir-Fried Chicken with Cashew Nuts - Amir Halal Foods

Amir Halal Foods is the most popular halal restaurant in town and therefore top-listed in our article about the best halal food in Pattaya. Here, they serve Thai halal food and even if you don’t need to eat strictly halal food, Amir Halal Foods is a great place to get good quality and great tasting Thai food. One dish impressed us so much during our visit, which was the Stir-Fried Chicken with Cashew Nuts (150 THB). What makes it so special is the thinly coating around each juicy, tender bit of chicken as well as the amount of delicious sauce the chicken is covered in. Personally, I find this Thai classic dish often dry, which was absolutely not the case at this restaurant. More general information, such as opening times, location, menu, pictures of the restaurant and other TopTravelFoods users’ opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Amir Halal Foods.

12. Steamed Spicy Whole Fish with Lemon and Chili - Mai Thai Cuisine

We finish this list of amazing Pattaya food with the Steamed Spicy Whole Fish with Lemon and Chili (500 THB) which you can find at the popular restaurant Mai Thai Cuisine. Although this restaurant is more specialized in curries, this dish was simply amazing. The steamed sea bass is bathing in a herby soup and covered in lime, garlic, chilli and coriander leaves. The sea bass itself is beautifully tender because it’s steamed, while the soup, in which the sea bass is bathing in, gets more flavoured by the minute. More general information, such as opening times, location, menu, pictures of the restaurant and other TopTravelFoods users’ opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Mai Thai Cuisine.
