Award-winning Du Pain Et Des Idées is a famous boulangerie located in Paris’s 10th district. After quitting his job as a fashion industry sales executive to pursue his passion for bread, driven baker Christophe Vasseur chased his dream for baking. On a mission to keep traditional baking methods alive and use the best ingredients doing so. His vision has paid off, as in 2008 Du Pain Et Des Idées was elected the best baker in Paris by famous restaurant guide Gault & Millau. Du Pain Et Des Idées is located in a characteristic bakery that dates back from 1989, Christophe Vasseur took it over in 2002.

Du Pain Et Des Idées has a limited assortment and 
bread. All ingredients that are used here are of prime quality, and they put a lot of effort
in the process of creating their famous “pain des amis” and other baking goods. The sourdough is risen for 3 hours before kneading it, and then again risen for 24 hours in a 4 degrees refrigerator before they put it in the wood-fired oven.  And for their “pain au chocolat” the famous Valrhona chocolate is used.

course, we’ve ordered their famous award winning baguette Pain des amis (€ 2.75), Another staple is their yummy escargot with pistachio and chocolate (€ 3.50), which looked so good we also had to order their escargot with red berries and cream cheese (€ 3.90). We also had their crispy yet fluffy, golden brown croissant (€ 1.80) and pain au chocolat (€ 1.90). Everything was delicious. Their famous baguette had a nutty taste, with a thick crust. Yet, the highlight for me was the yummy escargots.

Tip: you’ll get a plain baguette at Du Pain Et Des Idées. To enjoy your “pain des amis” to the fullest, we recommend you to buy some Bordier Butter or French Cheese (sorry for being too stereotypical) at another shop.

If you’re looking for a tasty and authentic boulangerie experience in Paris, then Du Pain Et Des Idées is the place to go. Everything we tried here was really good. Think twice if you have to travel far to here, as you might pass some Boulangeries who are just as good.

Du Pain Et Des Idées only does take away, but you can enjoy your fresh bakings on a wooden table outside the shop.
