Looking for the best crispy pork in Bangkok? In this article, we recommend you the best crispy pork Bangkok has to offer. Crispy Pork, commonly known as Moo Krob, is a roasted pork belly of which the pork skin and fat is completely baked out. Because of this, this part is extremely crunchy and hearty, giving it the pork a completely new dimension when it comes to flavour.
Moo Krob has its origins from China and migrants who came to Bangkok brought the dish and the recipe with them. For this reason, many of the restaurants who serve crispy pork also serve Chinese roasted duck. The crispy pork is usually served with a thickened soy sauce. That subtle sweetness of the soy sauce is very welcome to the deep-roasted and salty flavour of the crispy pork. Crispy Pork should be eaten as a side dish, for example with a bowl of noodles, which you can usually find on the menu. With that being said, let’s jump into the best crispy pork in Bangkok.
The best crispy pork in Bangkok are:
1. Mr. Jo
Mr. Jo is the absolute number one when it comes to crispy pork in Bangkok. For years, Mr. Jo serves its famous crispy pork from a small local restaurant located at Chan Road. The restaurant even got listed in the Michelin guide. Because of the fame, the restaurant is crowded and visitors often have to wait in line. But what you get in return is absolutely worth the wait: an incredibly crispy pork belly that is succulent in the middle served with a dark soy sauce. A small plate of crispy pork costs you 55 THB, but you can also order by the kilogram (550 THB). The menu also offers a Chinese clear soup which also has crispy pork in it. A bowl of soup cost you 60 THB and is highly recommended. In order to get to Mr. Jo, the best option is taking the BTS to Saphan Taksin Station. From there, it’s one kilometre south to reach the restaurant. Mr. Jo is open daily from 08:00 until 16:30.

2. Bamee Kon Sae Lee
This restaurant is in business since 1956, when it served noodles from a street food cart. Over the years, thanks to its popularity, it moved to a shop close to Thonglor BTS Station. Bamee Kon Sae Lee does three things very well: homemade noodles, roasted duck and crispy pork. The Moo Krob is amazingly crunchy and a place of this delicious crispy pork cost you 150 THB. The plate of crispy pork is large enough to share it with two persons. It’s recommended to order one of their signature noodles as well. This restaurant is open daily from 06:30 until 23:00 and gets extremely busy during lunchtime.

3. Boon Tong Kiat
Boon Tong Kiat is a famous restaurant as it serves the best Hainanese Chicken Rice in Bangkok. But Boon Tong Kiat is also known among the locals for its crispy pork. Boon Tong Kiat is located in the middle of Sukhumvit Soi 55, surrounded by many expensive restaurants. But Boon Tong Kiat stands out with affordable and, most important, delicious dishes including crispy pork, roasted duck and barbecued spareribs. A small plate of crispy pork cost you 120 THB and you will get a lean, crispy pork belly served with a sweet soybean sauce. Boon Tong Kiat is open daily from 10:00 until 22:00.

4. Prachak Pet Yang
Another restaurant that both amazing roasted duck, as well as crispy pork in Bangkok, is Prachak Pet Yang. Although the restaurant is a bit more famed for its duck, the crispy pork is outstanding too. Prachak Pet Yang is the oldest restaurant listed in this article and is open since 1909. The crispy pork comes in two sizes, which cost you either 100 THB or 250 THB and is again served with a soy sauce. This famous restaurant is located at Charoen Krung Road, close to Skybar. I would highly recommend you to try their roasted duck too, as it’s one of the best in Bangkok. If your appetite is not that large, pick one of the noodle dishes they serve here that contains both the delicious crispy pork and roasted duck. Due to popularity, Prachak Pet Yang often has long waiting lines during lunch and dinnertime. Prachak Pet Yang is open daily from 07:30 until 20:30.

5. Choi Ped Yang
Out of all the crispy pork in Bangkok, Choi Ped Yang serves the crunchiest crispy pork in Bangkok. It’s like you are eating crisps. If that’s what you are looking for, head over to this restaurant. I do have to admit, the crispy pork was a bit out of balance because of that. While restaurants like Mr. Jo are much more balanced with amazingly succulent pork meat and the right amount of crunchiness. A plate of crispy pork cost you 120 THB. Cho Ped Yang is a bit difficult to reach, as it’s located on the other side of the river near Wat Arun at Thanon Arun Amarin. Choi Ped Yang also serves amazing roasted duck and some deliciously spicy noodle dishes as well. Cho Ped Yang is open daily from 07:30 - 17:00.

6. Nai-Ek Roll Noodles
Nai-Ek Roll Noodles is located in the heart of Chinatown in Bangkok. Like Mr. Jo, Nai-Ek Roll Noodles is listed in the Michelin Guide, where it’s complimented about their rolled noodles and the crispy pork soup. Although the signature soup is what is recommended on different articles and platforms, we recommend you to try their Deep-Fried Crispy Pork. The crispy pork is served with morning glory and covered in a sweet and salty gravy. A plate of this delicious crispy pork cost you 100 THB. The restaurant is open daily from 07:30 until 01:30.

7. Ginger Farm Kitchen
Ginger Farm Kitchen is my favourite Northern Thai restaurant in Bangkok. It serves all sorts amazingly looking and tasting Northern Thai specialities. One of these specialities is their Northern Style Pound Young Jackfruit Salad with Crispy Pork Belly (225 THB). While most of the crispy pork recommendations in this article excel in their crunchiness, the pork belly at Ginger Farm Kitchen excels in its tenderness. The crispy roasted layer is thinner than what you are used to. Also, the sweetness of the jackfruit salad replaces the sweetness of the soy sauce. It’s a completely different dish than all the other crispy pork listed in this article. Currently, Ginger Farm Kitchen is expanding and I expect that it will have several branches throughout Bangkok due to its amazing food and popularity. The branch at Punnawithi is open daily from 10:00 until 23:00. The branch at MegaBanga is open daily from 10:00 until 22:00.
