The best restaurants near Soi Cowboy are:
Khua Kling Pak Sod
One of my favourite Thai restaurants in town is Khua Kling Pak Sod, which has one branch near Soi Cowboy. The reason why I love this place is that they serve excellent and exciting Southern Thai specialities for a reasonable price and it’s a mid-range restaurant that looks great too. Khua Kling Pak Sod has four branches in Bangkok and is a family-run business. The food they serve, often highly spiced and fragrant, is based on their grandmothers’ recipes. The absolute must-order is their Khua Kling (180 THB), which is a dry pork curry with thinly sliced chilli, lemongrass and kafir lime leaves. The dry curry is served with fresh vegetables. Other highly recommended dishes are the Nua Pu Pad Prik Kee Noo Sua (480 THB), which is stir-fried crab meat covered in a delicious dressing, as well as the Kai Pa Loh Kha Moo (280 THB), which is a dish made with braised pork leg, eggs and tofu in a sweet soy sauce. In March 2019, MAYs opened its branch in Bangkok after being successful in Pattaya and Ho Chi Minh. What makes MAYs such a unique place is the fact that they serve authentically flavoured Thai food, that looks amazing, without any artificial flavour enhancers being added. And this goes pretty far, for example, instead of using scoops of refined sugar, at MAYs they use the sweetness of certain fruits to get the dishes to the right flavour. The result is that the food at MAYs is perfectly balanced and after your meal, you feel satisfied but without that bloated feeling. Highly recommended dishes are the Pineapple Fried Rice (250 THB), which was one of the best I’ve ever tried, MAYs Curry with Duck (380 THB), Sea Bass with Yellow Curry (490 THB) and Pomelo Salad with Prawns and Chicken (180 THB). But honestly, none of the dishes we tried at both branches was not tasty. For more information about this restaurant, check out our in-depth review of MAYs Pattaya and Bangkok. Chu Chocolate & Bar
Chu Chocolate & Bar is a hugely popular restaurant located in Exchange Tower near Soi Cowboy. What makes Chu Chocolate & Bar so popular is that it serves really tasty breakfast and lunch options which attract business people in this area during the weekday and hungry (mostly) foreigners during the weekend. One of the reasons people often come back to Chu Chocolate & Bar is their famous Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon (290 THB), which can also be ordered with bacon. Another bestseller is the pancakes, which can be ordered with savoury or sweet toppings, such as fresh berries (240 THB), banana walnut (190 THB), lemon curd (190 THB), sausage or smoked bacon (210 THB). Does that mean that there are no options for dinner at all? No, there are a few options for dinner too. Highly recommended is their Caramel Apple Pork Chop (350 THB), which is a grilled pork chop is sweetened with a bit of honey and served with a delicious caramel apple puree. It’s like a huge barbecue spare rib, but better! For more information about this restaurant, check out our in-depth review of Chu Chocolate & Bar. Burger lovers, pay attention now. There are two restaurants near Soi Cowboy that serve excellent burgers. Chef Burger is a tiny restaurant run by Chef Roland located just around the corner of Soi Cowboy. Unfortunately, for unknown reasons, the restaurant is currently closed and it’s uncertain if or when the restaurant opens its doors again. The other restaurant that serves amazing burgers is Bad Burger, located near Sukhumvit 20. Where Chef Bar served impressive and unusual gourmet burger combinations is Bad Burger the exact opposite. At Bad Burger, you get simple, non-complicated juicy burgers but done in the exact right way. Highly recommended burgers are The Basic Bitch - Double (299 THB), Side Kick Burger (289 THB) and the Blue Cheese Burger (299 THB). Both restaurants are listed in our article about the best burgers in Bangkok, where you can find much more in-depth information. For more general information, such as the opening times, location and TopTravelFoods users’ opinions, check out the TopTravelFoods review page of Bad Burger.
Pala Pizza is one of the most popular places to grab a slice of pizza in Bangkok. This Italian restaurant is located just at the entrance of the BTS and near Soi Cowboy. Pala Pizza also serves all the classic Italian specialities such as bruschetta, pasta with pesto, gnocchi ai 4 formaggi, a wide variety of main courses as well as Italian pastries and breakfast options. Pizza can be ordered per slice but also per (half) meter. Highly recommended dishes are Spaghetti Calabrese (260 THB), Pasta Norcina (265 THB), Pizza Diavola (105 THB), Pizza 5 Formaggi (100 THB) and the Tiramisu (165 THB). For more general information, such as the opening times, location and TopTravelFoods users’ opinions, check out the TopTravelFoods review page of Pala Pizza.
Isao is a small Japanese restaurant on Sukhumvit Soi 31 that’s incredibly popular thanks to it’s beautiful and tasty creations and can compete with some of the best sushi restaurants in the city. Among these beautiful creations are the Jackie (450 THB) and the Dragon (450 THB) sushi rolls. These two rolls are absolute must-orders. Other highly recommended dishes are the Volcano (300 THB), which is a baked scallop in spicy sauce, the Sushi Sandwich (350 THB), which is a sushi rice sandwich with spicy salmon and tuna, and finally, the Crunchy (320 THB), which is a sushi roll covered in tempura flakes with a spicy salmon filling. For more general information, such as the opening times, location and TopTravelFoods users’ opinions, check out the TopTravelFoods review page of Isao.
Charley Brown’s Mexicana
Charley Brown’s Mexicana is a Mexican restaurant located near Soi Cowboy that is not your ordinary Mexican restaurant. Charley Brown’s wants to be different by serving good looking and great tasting Mexican classics instead of serving fast-food-like food what many other Mexican restaurants do. You can easily bring your family to Charley Browns and enjoy a lovely dinner with both street food options as large platters of Mexican specialities. Highly recommended dishes are the Gambas Y Ajo (150 THB, Pulled Pork Hard Taco (110 THB), Quesadilla Chipotle Chicken (150 THB) and the Enchiladas de Mariscos (350 THB). For more general information, such as the opening times, location and TopTravelFoods users’ opinions, check out the TopTravelFoods review page of Charley Brown's Mexicana.
Korea Town & Sulbing
A ten-minute walk from Soi Cowboy, you will find Korea Town, which is located between Asok BTS and Nana BTS. This small area is filled with several Korean barbecue restaurants. The three most popular restaurants are Jang Won, Myeong Ga, Doo Rae and Kaborae. All four serve a-la-carte food options where you simply select the type of meat you would like to grill. Included are the side dishes. The staff will grill and cut the selected meat and all you need to do is wrap up the grilled meats with the side dishes and dip them in one of the heavenly sauces. If you still have room left for dessert, head over to Sulbing. Sulbing has several branches in Bangkok and they serve Korean style shaved ice with toppings. My personal favourite topping is the Tiramisu Sulbing (330 THB). Unfortunately, and I honestly don’t know why, the branch at Korea Town does not serve the tiramisu sulbing with a shot of espresso, which all the other branches do. The shot of espresso has to be poured over the shaved ice, giving it such a delicious taste! Other tasty toppings are the Premium Mango Cheese Sulbing (320 THB) and the Berry Yoghurt Sulbing (290 THB). For more general information, such as the opening times, location and TopTravelFoods users’ opinions, check out the TopTravelFoods review page of Sulbing.
Pier 21 Food Court Vendors
Opposite of Soi Cowboy you will find the large shopping mall named Terminal 21. On the fifth floor of Terminal 21, you will find a large food court which is hugely popular among locals. The reason for this is because the food court is surprisingly cheap while the food is of decent standards. At every food court in Bangkok, you must put money on a card first at one of the counters. If you still have money left on your cart after your meal, you can easily get a refund at the same counters. Some of the food recommendations at Pier 21 are: Pad Thai with Prawns (50 THB) at Hoi Tod Champ Mae Klong, Sweet Mango Sticky Rice (70 THB) at Cheng Sim Ei, Sesame Noodle with Roasted Duck (40 THB) at Dragon X, Kha Moo (60 THB) at Kha Moo Nakornpathom and Spicy Fried Chicken Salad (40 THB) at Zing Zab.
