As Pattaya has many foreigners visiting and living here, there always has been a high demand for international food as well. Therefore, we split our top list into the best local Thai restaurants, best Thai restaurants and best non-Thai restaurants. This way, you can easily find the best of the type of restaurant you were looking for.
The best local Thai restaurants in Pattaya are:
Lab Ubon Pattaya Thai Restaurant
This local Thai restaurant was one of my favourite restaurants I’ve visited in Pattaya. The restaurant is specialized in Isaan food and in particular serving different styles of som tum on a large tray. The amount of spices they use on their dishes is insane and most-likely not everyone will like it. But if you do can handle a hot chilli or two, Lab Ubon Pattaya Thai Restaurant is a restaurant you must visit. The absolute must-orders are either the Som Tum Seafood Mix (300 THB) or Som Tum Kung Sud (180 THB). All the som tam dishes are made with Pla Ra, which is fermented fish and that specific ingredient has a distinctive smell that not everyone fancies. If you don’t like it, simply ask the staff. Other highly recommended dishes are the signature Laab Moo (80 THB) and the deliciously crispy Deep-Fried Pork Belly with Fish Sauce (150 THB). More information including opening times, location and other users reviews can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Lab Ubon Pattaya Thai Restaurant.

J Tum Kitchen
At first glimpse, you would not expect that J Tum Kitchen is a restaurant that serves this kind of delicious food. It’s a restaurant that you easily walk past by. But luckily we didn’t. What makes J Tum Kitchen so good is that they serve phenomenal local seafood dishes, made with the not-so-average ingredients. For example, one of the most recommended dishes here is the Deep-Fried Rock Lobster with Garlic and Pepper (450 THB per half a kilogram). No, the lobster is not cooked to perfection what you are might used to in Western countries. But the lobster is covered in a garlicky dressing which is packed with flavours that you can only find in Thailand. Other highly recommended dishes are the Grilled Prawns with Tamarind (600 THB per half a kilogram), Stir-fried Squid with Salted Egg Curry (200 THB) and the Grilled Scallops with Garlic (250 THB). More information including opening times, location and other users reviews can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of J Tum Kitchen.

Jae Tho Beef Noodles
Jae Tho Beef Noodles is one of few stalls at this local Thai restaurant in Pattaya that’s specialized in beef noodles. This local eatery, which is actually a tiny food court, is surprisingly clean and has several food stalls that serve all sorts of local deliciousness. The main reason for visiting this place is to try their popular aromatic Stewed Beef Noodle Soup (60 THB). Other noodle soups are available too, such as the Stewed Pork Noodle Soup (60 THB). The last two recommendations are the Fried Rice with Shrimp Paste (60 THB) and the Grilled Pork Balls in Chili Sauce (45 THB). If you are driving from Bangkok to Pattaya, you can find this restaurant right before you enter Pattaya itself, making it a great food option to stop by. More information including opening times, location and other users reviews can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Jae Tho Beef Noodles.
The beef noodles at Jaeh Toh is amazing!
So Moo Hun Baan Moto
Although not an actual restaurant, this food experience is something that we must recommend. In front of their house, each Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 15:30 and 18:30, the owners are roasting complete pigs right above the hot coals. For only 100 THB, you can get a decent-sized bowl of crispy roasted pork and for an extra 50 THB, they add the most crispy roasted skin possible to your meal. The roasted pork is served two different sauces, one spicy sauce and one sweet sauce. It’s also possible to let them roast a complete pig at your house for friends and family. Because of this, it’s possible that on the three days they are open, they might have a booking at someone’s house. Therefore it’s advisable to give them a phone call, especially as this place is located a bit out of the city. More information including opening times, location and other users reviews can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of So Moo Hun Baan Moto.

Similar to the previous restaurant, Pa Tidd has some odd opening times. The restaurant is only open between 10:00 and 15:00. But as soon as this local Thai restaurant is open, the first guests already dropping in. The main reason to visit this restaurant is to try their signature Krapao Seafood. Where you usually order you pad kra pao with minced pork or chunks of chicken, at Pa Tidd they make it with a mix of squid and large prawns. A normal portion with rice costs you only 80 THB and you get an authentically flavoured pad kra pao with plenty of chillies. If you don’t like spicy food, the Stir-Fried Crispy Pork with Garlic (70 THB) is a great alternative. The pork is unbelievably crunchy. More information including opening times, location and other users reviews can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Pa Tidd.

Ja Toi Restaurant
This local restaurant is a popular place for locals and Chinese tourists specifically for a certain reason. What makes is this restaurant so unique, besides the pretty cool atmosphere, is the fact that they serve some unusual ingredients. At Ja Toi, they serve for example fried boar, fried Muntiacus and shark. In order to make these ingredients tasteful, they add a large number of herbs to the dishes. This is some of the spiciest food I’ve tried, even though I asked for a less spicy version. Luckily, the menu has plenty of other “normal” Thai dishes that are more suitable for Western tourists. One final note regarding the shark: these small sharks are accidentally caught by fishermen. It’s not that these fishermen particularly hunting for sharks. More information including opening times, location and other users reviews can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Ja Toi Restaurant in Pattaya.
Interesting Thai food with unusual ingredients such as shark and boar.
Mum Aroi is a popular local seafood restaurant in Pattaya, where both foreigners as locals come to enjoy delicious seafood and entertaining live music performances. Keang Mookata Buffet
Throughout Pattaya, you will find several so-called Mookata restaurants, as it’s a popular local dining option in Thailand. Mookata is a form of Thai barbecue where you can use the top of the mookata to grill and the sides as a hotpot. At Keang Mookata Buffet you can eat as much as you can with unlimited time for only 199 THB per person. This does not include drinks. You can choose between various seafood options as well as beef and pork options. Don’t expect the best quality of ingredients possible as you only pay 199 THB. If you are with a group, eating mookata is not only a tasty experience, you will most definitely have a fun evening too. More information including opening times, location and other users reviews can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Keang Mookata Buffet.
A must-try when you are in Thailand: mookata.
Amir Halal Foods
Amir Halal Foods is the best place for local Thai halal food in Pattaya. Run by a lovely family, the restaurant serves really tasty Thai food. As they receive large groups often, the restaurant developed different types of sharing menus that vary between 200 and 250 THB per person. Even if you don’t necessarily need to eat halal food, Amir Halal Foods is still a highly recommended place to visit. Recommended dishes are the Stir-Fried Chicken with Cashew Nuts (150 THB), Steamed Fish in Lemon Sauce (380 THB), Stir-Fried Seafood with Curry (150 THB) and the large plate of Fried Chicken (250 THB). More information including opening times, location and other users reviews can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Amir Halal Foods.

The best mid-range and upscale Thai restaurants in Pattaya are:
The owner of MAYs started her first restaurant here after successfully ran a street food shop. Back then, people were waiting in line for more than half an hour just to grab a bit at her shop. Nowadays, MAYs has several branches in Southeast Asia and this restaurant is where the successful franchise started. The concept of MAYs is simple, serve beautiful, high-quality and authentically flavoured Thai dishes without artificial flavour enhancers. That means no MSG, but also no scoops of refined sugar. Instead, MAY’s uses the sweetness of natural ingredients such as fruit. Highly recommended dishes are the Pineapple Fried Rice (250 THB), Deep-Fried Sea Bass with Tamarind Sauce (420 THB) and MAYs Curry with Duck (380 THB), but honestly, everything tasted excellent at both MAYS Pattaya as well as MAYs Bangkok. More information including opening times, location and other users reviews can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of MAYs Pattaya.
MAYs Pattaya is highly recommended!
The Glass House
Pattaya has dozens of beachfront restaurants that will have an amazing sunset each evening to offer. Among these beachfront restaurants is the widely known Glass House. There are two branches of The Glass House, but we recommend visiting the Glass House Beach Front south of Jomtien and right before sunset. Guests can have a table literally at the beach and choose really tasty food of their International and Thai menu. We highly recommend you trying one of the following dishes: Fried White Perch with Sour And Spicy Salad (580 THB), Creamy Tom Yum with Seafood (550 THB) and the Fried Prawn in Tamarind Sauce (490 THB). The Glass House also offers a wide variety of alcoholic beverages and cocktails, making it also a really nice place to simply relax and watch the view. More information including opening times, location and other users reviews can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of The Glass House in Pattaya.

The Sky Gallery
The Sky Gallery is a popular beachside restaurant. Similar to The Sky Gallery, The Glass House is a place where you can excellently enjoy the view and the sunset but has a more trendy vibe and attracts younger people. The menu - and even the kitchen - is split into two sections: International and Thai cuisine. The most recommended Thai options are: the signature Deep-Fried Sea Bass with Sweet Fish Sauce (485 THB), Steamed Mackerel with Red Curry (255 THB) and the Grilled Scallop with Butter (325 THB). If you are craving for something Western, you must order their amazing BBQ Pork Spare Ribs (355 THB). More information about the opening times, location and other users reviews can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of The Sky Gallery.

Surf & Turf Beach Club & Restaurant
Surf & Turf is another beach club that is highly recommended for its awesome vibe and its delicious food. What’s so different compared to the other beach clubs is the type of food. As the name already suggests, the menu consists of surf and turf dishes, which is a combination of both meat and seafood. Most of these surf and turf dishes are international food such as their Seafood Adventure One To All (690 THB) and their Paella (590 THB). But the reason why I listed Surf & Turf in this section of the best Thai restaurants in Pattaya is because they have a separate traditional Thai menu and these dishes are even more delicious! The Grilled Pork with Lemongrass (220 THB) was our absolute favourite, which is a perfectly cooked and heavily spiced minced pork roll on a lemongrass bar served with sticky jasmine rice. Other recommended food options from the traditional Thai menu are the Deep-Fried Fermented Pork Spring Rolls (190 THB), Traditional Thai Mixed Entree (350 THB) and the Pork Satay (190 THB). More information including opening times, location and other users reviews can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Surf & Turf Beach Club & Restaurant.

Mai Thai Cuisine
Mai Thai is a hugely popular restaurant because of a few things they do right. First of all, the staff is tremendous. They are well-trained and make sure that you have a really good evening. Secondly, the atmosphere is really good. In the evening, there is nice live music and the outside area lights almost romantically up. And last, and this is the most important thing, the food is really good. Highly flavoured, beautiful-looking food that’s being loved by both the foreign as well as the local taste palate. Even the pastes of the curries and soups are homemade. The following dishes are among their bestsellers and we believe these are highly recommended: Tom Yom Goong (250 THB), Steamed Spicy Fish with Garlic and Lime (500 THB), Chicken in Green Curry with Coconut (249 THB), Fish Cakes (210 THB) and the Grilled Salmon in Red Curry (440 THB). More information including opening times, location and other users reviews can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Mai Thai Cuisine.
The food at Mai Thai Cuisine, among the most popular Thai restaurant in Pattaya
This restaurant is located in the middle of Walking Street and is a popular place to get some of the best seafood in Pattaya. In the back of the restaurant, there is an outside dining area with a really nice ocean view. Like mentioned several times before, try to catch the sunset to make your dinner even more special. This restaurant serves really large-sized freshly caught seafood which is placed in large water tanks at the front of the restaurant. Basically every possible local seafood option is available, from large king lobsters to baby clams. We recommend you try one of the following dishes: Steamed Sea Bass with Lemon Sauce (553 THB), Fried Crab with Curry Powder (995 THB), Fried Squid with Garlic and Pepper Sauce (220 THB) and the Fried Baby Clams with Chili Paste (220 THB). More information including opening times, location and other users reviews can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of King Seafood.

Good food and a nice view!
Suttangrak Pattaya is a popular beachside restaurant that is in business since 1971. The restaurant is popular among both locals as foreigners as the whole atmosphere is really special. From your table at the outside dining area, you can watch the sunset or enjoy the live music that's is being performed each evening. The best non-Thai restaurants in Pattaya:
Comfort by Harlan
Planning to finally retire, former two Michelin-star chef Harlan Goldstein could not express his creativity anymore during his short retirement and decided to start a new restaurant again. Based on his countless years of travelling over the world Comfort by Harlan is a restaurant that serves international comfort food. Comfort food is the food you are craving for so badly, that nothing else counts and you must have it. For some, it’s pasta, for others a juicy burger. This is exactly what you can expect here, but with a twist or with a tremendous amount of creativity. For example, the gorgeous looking Smoked Salmon Onion Cones with Sour Cram Caviar (320 THB) taste like New York Donuts. Your visit to this cool restaurant will be one you won’t easily forget with really amazing food that every foodie's heart will pump faster. Besides the delicious food, make sure to get one of their signature (and kind of strong) cocktails. These are fantastic. Other recommended dishes are: Sizzling Belgium Waffle Brownie (280 THB), Homemade Spaghetti, Red Prawns, Chili and Basil (680 THB) and the cheese fondue. The Tea Factory is a restaurant that’s part of A La Campagne, which is often being used for weddings and other celebrations. The reason for this is because the venue looks like a Mediterranean small castle and it’s simply stunning. The Tea House is specialized in all sorts of tea as well as serving Western foods. Among these are the following recommended options: Beef Burger (285 THB), Linguini Vongole (280 THB) and the Grilled Pork Chop (420 THB). Delicious Western food at a beautiful location.
New York Pizza House
In our recently published article about the best pizza in Pattaya, we listed New York Pizza House as our top favourite. Although you will always have the endless discussion which type of pizza is someone’s favourite, the fact is that New York Pizza House is a hugely popular pizza joint. With two branches in Pattaya, they satisfy many customers their craving for an American style pizza with either delivery or with a restaurant visit. As all pizzas here are freshly made, it will take around twenty minutes before the pizza is ready to serve. One of the bestsellers is the Mr C’s Favorite, which is topped with pepperoni, sausage, onion and garlic oil. You can also design your own pizza with the maximum size of twenty-one inches, good for sixteen slices. More information including opening times, location and other users reviews can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of New York Pizza House.
The best pizza in town.
Jim’s Burger & Beer
If you are looking for the best burger restaurant in Pattaya, you must go to Jim’s Burger & Beer. This restaurant is the sixth branch in Thailand. Here, you can find gigantic burgers with all sorts of toppings served with a variety of signature fries. One of my favourite burgers here was the Twinhead Dragon Beef Burger (390 THB) which is a double patty, double cheese, double bacon burger. Another highly recommended burger is the Ribbreaker with Burger (300 THB). There are other food options available besides burgers such as nachos and tortillas, but I would highly recommend ordering one of the burgers first! More information including opening times, location and other users reviews can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Jim's Burger & Beer.

At both branches, you can get their ultimate bestseller, the Almond Croissant (85 THB). The pastries are sublime!
Simply put it this way, La Bocca is the best Italian restaurant in Pattaya. Both the owner as the manager are from Italy or have Italian roots and they do their absolute best to maintain Italian-grade food quality. Most ingredients are imported from Italy and therefore La Bocca is slightly more expensive than you are used to. As the owner of this restaurant is an enthusiastic fisherman, the restaurant has daily, weekly and monthly specials build around these freshly caught fishes. But the restaurant also serves all the Italian classics you can expect from an Italian restaurant. Recommended dishes are: Osso Bucco di Vitello (490 THB), Pizza La Bocca (280 THB), Fettucini all Bolognese (310 THB) and Tagliere di Salumi (490 THB).
