Visiting Thailand? Then you should definitely try one of the many delicious curries on offer, but what are the best curries in Bangkok? Many restaurants offer this popular Thai dish, some are good, some bad and some are the BEST! I’ve been exploring the options since 2016 and have put together a list of the best curries in Bangkok. I promise you can’t go wrong with any of these options.

The best curries in Bangkok are:

1. Stir-Fried Soft-Shell Crab in Curry Powder at Soei Restaurant (400 THB)

Did someone say fried soft-shell crab in curry powder? *Dribble. This is another one of my favourite curries in Bangkok. The crispy, fried soft-shell crabs are covered in a thick layer of curry powder and veggies. These meaty treats are slathered in fiery curry powder, making them a highlight at Soei.

2. Green Curry with Beef or Chicken at Sanguansri Restaurant (60 – 100 THB)

After famous food blogger Mark Wiens declared this curry the best green curry in Bangkok, the curry gained somehow of a legendary reputation. The rich dish is sweetened with coconut milk and flavoured with other herbs, including green chillies, to give it a spicy kick. On Thursdays, Sanguansri serves a special green curry which is prepared with beef (100 THB).

3. Red Curry with Smoked Duck at Soul Food Mahanakorn (250 THB)

This combination of traditional red curry and smoky roasted duck makes my mouth water. The slightly spicy curry is unusually flavoured with sweet rambutans. Soul Food Mahanakorn is one of the more upscale restaurants on this best curry in Bangkok list, with a tempting menu of authentic Thai dishes. Of course, the red curry with smoked duck is my favourite.

4. Mussaman Curry with Chicken and Chantaburi Durian at Mother May I (220 THB)

This is my favourite massaman curry in Bangkok! The creamy curry is packed with aromatic flavours and tender chicken. But the best thing about this curry is that it's served with durian. For those of you who don't know what durian is: durian a hugely popular fruit in Asia that's famous for its taste and smell. It's a combination of sweetness and garlickiness, which not every foreigner appreciates. But together with this curry, you get an extra subtle, unique flavour that I've personally never experienced before.

This is the best Penang curry I’ve tried in Bangkok.

Tip: the small portions are perfect for sampling multiple dishes, so order a few with rice on the side.

This rare pork stew curry is the signature dish at Supanniga Eating Room. It’s flavoured with cha muang leaves, which give this stand-out curry a sour taste. The chunks of tender stewed pork complete this dish and make it one of the highlights of Supanniga’s already remarkable menu.

Tip: Supanniga Eating Room offers a Dinner Champagne Taittinger Cruise (3,250 THB) which ends with a six-course dinner Supanniga Tha Tian. This means you get to taste the curry while enjoying spectacular views of Wat Arun.

My favourite dish at ERR is their southern-style curry with pork ribs. The meal is incredibly rich and spicy. Is it the best Southern curry in Bangkok?
