Looking for the best curry in Bangkok? In this article, we cover the best places where you can find the most delicious curries. From the classic green curry to more exotic curries such as the soft-shell crab in curry powder, we will cover them all.

The best Thai curries in Bangkok are:

1. Soft-Shell Crab Curry (400 THB) - Soei Restaurant

Did someone say fried soft-shell crab in curry powder? *Dribble. This is another one of my favourite curries in Bangkok. The crispy, fried soft-shell crabs are covered in a thick layer of curry powder and veggies. These meaty treats are slathered in fiery curry powder, making them a highlight at Soei. Soei Restaurant can be seen as one of the top local Thai restaurants in the city and not only this curry is what makes regulars come back.

Other delicious foods at Soei Restaurant are their Shrimp in Wasabi-Fish Sauce (200 THB) and their Grill Prawn Salad with Lemon Grass and Mint (500 THB). For more in-depth information about this restaurant, check out our review of Soei Restaurant. More general information, such as the location, opening times, menu and other TopTravelFoods users' opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Soei Restaurant

2. Green Curry (60 - 100 THB) - Sanguansri Restaurant

After famous food blogger Mark Wiens declared this curry the best green curry in Bangkok, the curry gained somehow of a legendary reputation. The rich dish is sweetened with coconut milk and flavoured with other herbs, including green chillies, to give it a spicy kick. On Thursdays, Sanguansri serves a special green curry which is prepared with beef (100 THB). Sanguansri Restaurant is also listed in our article about the best local restaurants near Lumpini Park

Other delicious food at Sanguansri Restaurant:  Fried Fish with Chilli Paste(60 THB) and Blanched Pork with Peanut Sauce and Morning Glory (60 THB). More information, such as the location, opening times, menu and other TopTravelFoods users' opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Sanguansri Restaurant

3. Red Curry with Smoked Duck (250 THB) - Soul Food Mahanakorn

This combination of traditional red curry and smoky roasted duck makes my mouth water. The slightly spicy curry is unusually flavoured with sweet rambutans. Soul Food Mahanakorn is one of the more upscale restaurants on this best curry in Bangkok list, with a tempting menu of authentic Thai dishes. Of course, the red curry with smoked duck is my favourite.

Other delicious food at Soul Food Mahanakorn: Sticky Tamarind Ribs (280 THB) and Gaeng Hang Lay(250 THB). More information, such as the location, opening times, menu and other TopTravelFoods users' opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Soul Food Mahanakorn

4. Mussaman Curry with Chicken & Durian (220 THB) - Mother May I

This is my favourite massaman curry in Bangkok! The creamy curry is packed with aromatic flavours and tender chicken. But the best thing about this curry is that it's served with durian. For those of you who don't know what durian is: durian is a hugely popular fruit in Asia, that's famous for its taste and smell. It's a combination of sweetness and garlickiness, which not every foreigner appreciates. But together with this curry, you get an extra subtle, unique flavour that I've personally never experienced before. Mother May I is also listed in our article about the best restaurants near Octave Rooftop Bar

Other delicious food at Mother May I: “Kai Jom Yud” by Chef Peter Lai (120 THB). More information, such as the location, opening times, menu and other TopTravelFoods users' opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Mother May I

5. Penang Pork Curry (30 THB) - Ran Nai Oo

This local curry and rice restaurant is known for serving exceptional food at a decent price. My favourite curry at Ran Nai Oo is their flavour-packed Penang pork curry, which comes with just the right amount of chillies and has a rich coconut cream flavour. This is the best Penang curry I’ve tried in Bangkok.

Other delicious food at Ran Nai Oo: Green Curry with Beef (30 THB) and Khanom Jeen Nam Prik(30 THB). More information, such as the location, opening times, menu and other TopTravelFoods users' opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Ran Nai Oo

Tip: the small portions are perfect for sampling multiple dishes, so order a few with rice on the side.

6. Moo Cha Muang Curry (190 THB) - Supanniga Eating Room

This rare pork stew curry is the signature dish at Supanniga Eating Room. It’s flavoured with cha muang leaves, which give this stand-out curry a sour taste. The chunks of tender stewed pork complete this dish and make it one of the highlights of Supanniga’s already remarkable menu. Other delicious food at Supanniga Eating Room: Ka Lum Tod Nam Pla (120 THB) and Gaeng Crab Meat Bai Cha Plu (650 THB). More information, such as the location, opening times, menu and other TopTravelFoods users' opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Supanniga Eating Room

Tip: Supanniga Eating Room offers a Dinner Champagne Taittinger Cruise (3,250 THB) which ends with a six-course dinner Supanniga Tha Tian. This means you get to taste the curry while enjoying spectacular views of Wat Arun.

7. Southern Pork Ribs Curry (395 THB) - ERR Urban Rustic Thai

ERR is one of my favourite mid-range restaurants in Bangkok. The eatery focuses on traditional Thai cooking techniques in a cool and funky environment and everything they produce is top quality. My favourite dish at ERR is their southern-style curry with pork ribs. The meal is incredibly rich and spicy. Is it the best Southern curry in Bangkok? I truly don’t know but I sure as hell love it! Mother May I is also listed in our article about the best Thai restaurants near The Grand Palace and Wat Pho.

Other delicious food at ERR Urban Rustic Thai: Braised Southern Style Pork Belly and Ribs with Pepper (295 THB) and Salad of Deep-Fried Organic Egg (145 THB). More information, such as the location, opening times, menu and other TopTravelFoods users' opinions can be found on the

8. Khao Soi Curry (50 THB) - Daradalay

We’ll also add a favourite Northern Thai dish to this best curry in Bangkok list. Khao soi is a famous Nothern Thai curry that’s especially in Chiang Mai, a must-try dish. Luckily, in Bangkok, there are a few famous khao soi restaurants as well which we listed in our Top 5 Best Khao Soi in Bangkok. Our favourite khao soi is served by Daradalay, which is also top-listed in this top 5. The rich khao soi is made with organic ingredients, which Daradalay grew themselves on their farm in and the result is so incredibly tasty! Other delicious food at Daradalay: Ka-Nhom Chine Nam Ngeow (50 THB). More information, such as the location, opening times, menu and other TopTravelFoods users' opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Daradalay

9. Hunge Lae Curry (140 THB) - Gedhawa

Gedhawa prepares our favourite hang lae curry in Bangkok. This flavourful curry, which is similar to Khao Soi a Northern Thai curry, is prepared with tender stewed pork belly and cooked with tamarind, chilli paste and a generous amount of garlic and ginger. The meat melts in your mouth. Other delicious food at Gedhawa: Spicy Seafood Salad with Wing Bean (120 THB). More information, such as the location, opening times, menu and other TopTravelFoods users' opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Gedhawa

10. Poo Phad Yellow Curry (800 THB) - Jay Fai

We cannot make a list of the best curries in Bangkok without mentioning Bangkok’s most famous local restaurant. Known for Netflix’s series Street Food and awarded with a Michelin star, Jay Fai is the most iconic Thai restaurant in the city. She brings traditional Thai dishes to the next level by using the best ingredients possible with recipes that she perfected over all these years. Visiting Jay Fai should be on every foodie’s bucket list. Her Poo Phad Yellow Curry (1000 THB) is one of the highlights of the menu, which is stir-fried crab meat in yellow curry. The price for this dish might be a bit expensive, but then again, the plate is fully covered in large chunks of crab meat and the restaurant has a One Michelin Star. Flavour-wise, this curry is obviously flawless. I mean, who am I to question the Michelin Guide. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself to the food of this outstanding local restaurant while you’re in Bangkok. More information, such as the location, opening times, menu and other TopTravelFoods users' opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Jay Fai. For obvious reasons is Jay Fai also listed in our article about the best Thai restaurants in Bangkok.

11. Stir-Fried Crab in Curry Powder (480 THB) - Aey Seafood

Aey Seafood is one of our favourite seafood restaurants in Bangkok as it served authentic Thai seafood dishes of excellent quality. The restaurant opens its doors daily at 17:00 as it’s waiting for a new batch of fresh seafood. One of the highlights of the nowadays limited menu is their crab curry. Flavour-wise, it’s a bit similar to the curry from Soei Restaurant. The big difference is that Aey Seafood uses a whole crab, instead of only chunks of crab meat. That means you have to sweat in order to get the meat out of the shells. The best part is sucking the crab meat out of the claws that are covered in this sweet and savoury curry. More information, such as the location, opening times, menu and other TopTravelFoods users' opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Aey Seafood

12. Roasted Duck in Coconut Milk Red Curry (110 THB) - Inter

This hugely popular restaurant is located right in the city centre of Siam and is, contrary to many other restaurants in this area, one of the few restaurants that serve affordable, tasty Thai food. For that reason, this restaurant is always jam-packed. The menu is extensive with a taste for any type of eater, but the restaurant gained its popularity from the curries they serve. Our favourite is the Roasted Duck in Coconut Milk Red Curry, which is a really creamy curry with the right amount of spice. The roasted duck is tender and has not too much fat, which we absolutely love. Inter is a good place to try out other curries too, such as Green Curry with Chicken (100 THB) and the Penang Pork (95 THB). More information, such as the location, opening times, menu and other TopTravelFoods users' opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Inter

13. Fresh Crab Meat with Yellow Curry (400 THB) - PraiRaya

PraiRaya is a famous restaurant in Phuket that luckily has a branch in Bangkok as well. It’s located near Nana BTS and the restaurant is inside a beautiful, colonial building. Here, guests can devour typical Southern Thai dishes, including a super tasty curry: Fresh Crab Meat with Yellow Curry (400 THB). This yellow curry is different from the crab curries from Jay Fai, Aey Seafood and Soei Restaurant. It’s much lighter. Instead of rice, make sure to order Khanom Jeen, which is a thin rice noodle. This is typically eaten with this curry. Expect large chunks of crab meat bathing in a non-spicy, fragrant yellow curry. This curry is mouth-watering good! More information, such as the location, opening times, menu and other TopTravelFoods users' opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of PraiRaya. PraiRaya is also listed in our article about the best Southern Thai restaurants in Bangkok.

14. Mackerel in Dried Red Curry (100 THB) - Soei Restaurant

This is the second dish that we recommend from this restaurant in this article about the best curries in Bangkok, but it deserves two spots as this red curry is super tasty! Fried Mackerel in Dried Red Curry (100 THB) is one of my favourite curries in general. There used to be a local restaurant near Victory Monument called Baan Pa Jazz who served some of the best red curries in Bangkok that has mackerel in it as well, but unfortunately, that restaurant is closed for good. Luckily there is Soei Restaurant which does an amazing job as well. What’s so good about this dish is the typical taste of mackerel combined with something creamy and spicy like red curry. It’s a combination that really works. Give it a try yourself. More information, such as the location, opening times, menu and other TopTravelFoods users' opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Soei Restaurant

15. Stir-Fried Crispy Pork with Red Curry Paste (220 THB) - Baan Ice

To give you a better understanding of how broad Thai curries can be, we recommend you try the crispy pork in red curry paste from Baan Ice. Although technically not a curry (it’s not creamy at all), the crispy pork is coated in a curry paste, which is the base of any curry. This type of flavouring is common in the Southern Thai gastronomy and it gives the meat an insane amount of flavour. As you can imagine, dry curry paste makes the pork super spicy, so you must be warned. The crunchy outside and savoury, succulent inside of the pork are a perfect match with the strong flavours of the curry paste. Try it out for yourself if you can handle a good amount of spice. More information, such as the location, opening times, menu and other TopTravelFoods users' opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Baan Ice

16. Green Halal Curry Chicken (89 THB) - Phayathai Kitchen

The last recommendation is the ideal candidate for the best halal curry in Bangkok. This restaurant is located on Phetchaburi Soi 7, a popular halal street food area in Bangkok. The small Muslim community that live here really know how to spoil its citizens with tasty food. There are plenty of small restaurants to discover as well as an amazing street food area where you can find all sorts of typical Thai dishes for a bargain. Phayathai Kitchen is one of the popular options and serves halal Thai food and the best seller is their Green Curry Chicken. It’s richly filled with eggplant and chunks of chicken and the curry itself is really creamy. More information, such as the location, opening times, menu and other TopTravelFoods users' opinions can be found on the TopTravelFoods review page of Phayathai Kitchen.
